POSTPONED: COURAGE – A TRAGICALLY HIP LITURGY
Sunday, September 17th was set to be our very first rock liturgy, featuring music from The Tragically Hip. I (Bri-anne) am very, very excited about our rock liturgy series and can’t wait to worship with members of our emerging community, singing along to some of my favourite musical cannons.
One of the things about New Ministry is that it is, well, NEW! It comes with some unexpected twists and turns, surprises and revelations. Since actually moving into the My Queensville development, I’ve come to realize that it’s really just too soon to put on an event like this.
Instead, you’ll see LPM at the bus stop in My Queensville on the first week of school with juice and snacks, being one more set of eyes to make sure the kids are safe (we don’t know how many kids are going to be waiting on the corner of Leslie and Jim Morston, but it could be up to 50!).
We have a Community Dinner scheduled for September 27th, where people can come to The Burrow, share a meal, and meet their neighbours.
And starting on September 5th, we have a twice-weekly Drop-In for children and their caregivers. We’ll have playtime, crafts and songs, and space for parents to just hang out and have a coffee. It’s the closest thing Queensville has to a coffee shop right now!
So for anybody who, like me, was super excited about singing “Ahead By a Century” in a church sanctuary this month, I am so sorry. I promise you we are going to do it. But when we do it, it should be done really well.
With faithful reverence for the Tortoise — slow and steady…
